OTS Administrator Oversees Installation of Security Screening Equipment at NAIA

Office for Transportation Security (OTS) Administrator Undersecretary Ma.O Aplasca, in coordination with the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), personally oversees the replacement of non-operational x-ray machines at the security screening checkpoints of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Wednesday, 14 September 2022. This is to eliminate downtime due to non-operational security screening equipment.

Usec. Aplasca said that security screening process must be rigid, while at the same time, convenient.

“Many of our kababayans have seen security as an arduous process to comply, and in some instances, we receive complaints on queuing. That is why my guidance is: to make it rigid, while at the same time convenient for them. And to do that, we must ensure that our tools and equipment in conducting screening are efficiently working according to its purpose, complemented by highly trained security screening officers.” Usec. Aplasca said.

He further added that there will soon be major changes in security screening layout to facilitate an even more efficient and effective security of passengers, their baggages, and the airport.

Joining him during the inspection were his Head Executive Assistant Eugenio Paguirigan, Administrative and Finance Service Director Jose A. Briones, and Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Cesar Chiong.
