3 FMRS to Benefit Farmers in Biliran Province

Easier transport of agricultural goods awaits local farmers of Biliran province once the construction of three (3) Farm to Market Roads (FMR) is done.

According to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar, the FMR project has a total length of 2.18-kilometers – a 830-meter FMR in Brgy. Matanggo to Sitio Patag, Brgy. Tabunan in the town of Almeria worth P12.5-million, 850-meter FMR along Barangay Catmon, and a 500–meter FMR in Barangay Cabungaan.

All of these projects involve the opening and concreting of a two-lane road with a thickness of .23 meters and width of 5 meters.

With a total allocation of P35 million, the road improvement projects are funded under the convergence program of DPWH and the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Bayanihan II. Civil works has an overall accomplishment of 43.48%.

According to a report from DPWH Biliran Engineering Office (DEO), six (6) more farm to market roads costing P87-million will also be implemented in the island province of Biliran under the Fiscal Year 2021 DA Project and are just awaiting the release of the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO).
