Philippine National Police Chief Approves Revocation of Apollo Quiboloy’s Firearm Licenses

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police Chief General Rommel Marbil has given the green light to the recommendation made by the PNP’s Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) to cancel the license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF) of fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy.

PNP Spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo confirmed Marbil’s approval of the FEO’s recommendation via Viber. She did not provide any additional information at the time of reporting.

On April 23, the FEO forwarded its recommendation to Marbil’s office to revoke the LTOPF of Quiboloy, also known as “Miss Canada,” who is facing arrest warrants for charges including child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, exploitation, and discrimination.

The recommendation cited their violation of section 26 of the Republic Act 10591 (the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), as stated by PNP FEO Public Information Office chief Major Lady Lou Gondales.

Quiboloy, along with three co-accused surnamed Canada, including Cresente, Paulene, and Ingrid Canada, have pending arrest warrants for various offenses.

The FEO’s decision comes after Senator Risa Hontiveros called on Marbil to take action and seize Quiboloy’s firearms based on his pending legal cases.

Recently, arrest orders were issued against Quiboloy and his associates for violating laws against child abuse and human trafficking.

As the investigation continues, more details are expected to emerge regarding the revocation of Quiboloy’s firearm licenses.
