Kalibo hosts PPO stages outreach program

The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) is set to enchant the people of Aklan with a live concert on November 29, 2023, at the Aklan Provincial Capitol in Kalibo. Titled “Hala Bira PPO sa Kalibo,” the concert will feature a vibrant repertoire, including familiar tunes and surprise numbers specifically tailored for the Aklanon audience.

Led by Dr. Herminigildo G. Ranera, the PPO will be joined by guest performers “Asia’s Golden Girl” Gerphil Flores-Libana and classically-trained tenor and musical theatre actor Arman Ferrer. The concert is a free event presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines in partnership with the Local Government of Aklan.

The concert is part of the CCP’s Outreach Program, which aims to promote and preserve Filipino arts and culture by embodying the values of truth, beauty, and goodness. Established in 1973, the PPO has become the country’s leading orchestra and has performed with renowned conductors and artists both locally and internationally.

The PPO’s upcoming concert in Aklan is just one stop in its outreach tour, with future performances lined up in Nueva Ecija and Bulacan as part of the celebration of its 50th anniversary.
