Sarina Bolden Scores Twice for Newcastle Jets in Australia

Sarina Bolden Shines in Newcastle Jets Debut, Scores Brace

Filipinas star striker Sarina Bolden made an impressive debut for her new club team Newcastle Jets in the Liberty A-League in Australia on Sunday, Nov. 26. The 27-year-old forward delivered a brace to help her team secure a 4-3 victory against Canberra.

The club had just announced Bolden’s signing before the game, and she wasted no time making an impact. She scored five minutes into her debut and followed it up with another goal in the 61st minute. Bolden’s performance was crucial in securing the Jets’ escape victory.

This comes after Bolden’s historic goal for the Philippines in its first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance last July, where she scored on a header against New Zealand.

Prior to joining Newcastle Jets, Bolden played for the Western Sydney Wanderers for one season in the Australian women’s league. Her triumphant debut for the Jets came after missing five games in the ongoing season while focusing on her national duties for the Filipinas, including playing in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and participating in the second round of the AFC Women’s Qualifying Tournament.

Newcastle Jets is currently ranked seventh in the league’s table, and Bolden’s addition is expected to strengthen the team’s offensive capabilities. Her performance in her debut has already garnered attention and positive feedback, and she is expected to be a key player for the club in the coming games.
