Jhassy Busran reflects on being honored to receive a slap from Gladys Reyes in ‘Unspoken Letters’

Actress and singer Jhassy Busran is set to take the spotlight in the upcoming drama movie “Unspoken Letters” under Utmost Creatives, which is scheduled to be shown in cinemas starting on Dec. 13. During a recent media conference for the movie in Quezon City, Jhassy expressed her excitement about portraying a character with an intellectual disorder.

In the film, Jhassy plays Felipa, a 17-year-old with the mental capacity of a seven-year-old who idolizes her older siblings and aspires to follow in their footsteps. “Dream role ko po ito, gustung-gusto ko po siya, so nag-audition po ako. I went through a lot din po getting this role,” she said, referring to her audition process and the challenges she faced in securing the part.

The rising star revealed that she researched the health disorder to authentically portray her character and felt some pressure, as it is not a romance film with a love interest, but she gave it her all to make the movie a success.

“Unspoken Letters” is Jhassy’s fourth full-length movie since she entered showbiz in 2021. Her previous appearances include Genius Teens – Chapters 1 and 2, Caught in the Act, and Home I Found In You. Jhassy has also received acting awards abroad, including Best Performance by an Actress at the Manhattan Film Festival New York in 2021.

The movie also stars Tonton Gutierrez, Gladys Reyes, Glydel Mercado, Matet de Leon, and Simon Ibarra. Jhassy expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with these multi-awarded stars.

Additionally, Jhassy shared that people will learn a lot from “Unspoken Letters” as it is not only the story of Felipa but also a family’s story. She added that the film teaches viewers about handling a special child and getting along with family members.

Jhassy also sang the theme song of “Unspoken Letters” entitled “Hanggang Doon” with MJ Manuel. When asked about her preference between acting and singing, Jhassy said, “Acting po ang gusto ko kasi yun talaga ang first love ko po.” (I like acting because that’s really my first love.)
