I can’t stop wondering what went wrong

Philippines’ Miss World representative, Gwendolyne Fourniol, recently shared her thoughts on her exclusion from the Top 40 delegates in the 2024 Miss World pageant. In a social media post, Fourniol expressed her confusion and emotions over the outcome, stating that she is still trying to make sense of it all.

Despite her disappointment, Fourniol acknowledged the outpouring of love and support she received and mentioned her plans to learn from the experience. Many were surprised by her elimination, considering her strong performances in various challenges throughout the competition.

Fourniol, who hails from Himamaylan, Negros Occidental, had been preparing for the pageant for over a year and had actively supported the ERDA Foundation even before winning the national title. She expressed her regret at potentially letting down those who supported her and highlighted her commitment to continue advocating for causes she cares about.

Although Fourniol did not advance in the competition, she thanked the Miss World Organization for the opportunity to participate and meet other inspiring women. The Miss World title ultimately went to Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic.

The Philippines’ search for Fourniol’s Miss World successor is set to begin soon, with the national organization hinting at the 2024 contest taking place in the coming months. Megan Young remains the only Filipino to have won the Miss World title, achieving the feat in 2013.
