High-Speed Hitters defeat Cargo Movers, Secure Place in Semifinals

PLDT Secures Vital Win to Keep Semifinal Hopes Alive in Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference

PLDT fought off F2 Logistics to secure a crucial victory in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, keeping its semifinal hopes alive. The match took place at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Thursday, November 30th.

The High Speed Hitters claimed their sixth win in 10 outings, with Fil-Canadian Savannah Davison leading the charge with an impressive 22 points. Her match-sealing kill proved to be the highlight of the game. With this win, PLDT has given itself a chance to make it to the next round.

In order to secure the last semifinal spot, PLDT needs to defeat Petro Gazz, who also has a 6-4 record, and hope that sister team Cignal (7-3) loses to winless Gerflor (0-10) in the final elimination round scheduled for Tuesday, December 5th.

PLDT coach Rald Ricafort expressed hope for a miracle, acknowledging that the team is now depending on other results to make it through. The team played without setter Rhea Dimaculangan and spiker Erika Santos due to injuries, but Angelica Legacion and Jules Samonte stepped up to fill the void. Legacion contributed 18 excellent sets, while Samonte made crucial hits, including the one that broke a deadlock at 23 in the third set and set the stage for Davison’s match-winning spike.

Despite the challenges, PLDT remains hopeful and ready to give its all in the remaining games, as they know the importance of contributing as a team to achieve their goal of reaching the semifinals.
