Scottie Thompson Leads Barangay Ginebra to Christmas Day Win

Barangay Ginebra fans had an extra special Christmas gift courtesy of Scottie Thompson as he led the team to a thrilling 86-78 comeback victory over TNT on Christmas Day. The win officially secured Ginebra’s spot in the quarterfinals of the 2023 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Thompson, known for his versatility, came up clutch in the fourth quarter, delivering crucial baskets to seal the win for Ginebra. Despite Ginebra’s struggles from the three-point line, Thompson’s back-to-back triples proved to be the turning point in the game.

The victory improved Ginebra’s record to 6-3, putting them in contention for a top 4 spot and the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

Thompson’s all-around performance, including 12 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, was key to securing the win. Christian Standhardinger also contributed a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while import Tony Bishop added 15 points and 12 rebounds.

TNT, playing without key players Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Jayson Castro, put up a tough fight, with Calvin Oftana leading the scoring with 27 points. Despite their efforts, TNT now finds themselves in need of wins in their last two games to secure a playoff spot.
