Former tour players enhance Palos Verdes’ chances of winning the title

The ICTSI Palos Verdes Championship is set to kick off on Tuesday, March 19, at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club in Davao. The event will feature top players such as Jhonnel Ababa, Angelo Que, Lloyd Go, Sean Ramos, and Gab Manotoc.

Que, a multi-titled player, is looking to end his title drought on the Philippine Golf Tour after competing in several overseas tournaments. Meanwhile, Go, Ramos, and Manotoc are coming back from a successful Asian Development Tour event in Vietnam.

The championship, offering a prize purse of P2 million, will showcase the talents of both local and foreign players who earned their spots through the recent PGT Q-School. With Rancho Palos Verdes providing a different challenge compared to previous courses, participants are expected to employ various strategies to vie for the title.

Ababa, coming off a playoff victory at the Apo Golf Classic, is aiming to continue his winning streak. However, he will face stiff competition from contenders like Guido van der Valk, Tony Lascuña, and Jay Bayron.

Young talents like Ryan Monsalve and Kristoffer Arevalo are also expected to make their mark in the championship. Arevalo, who led in the third round of a previous tournament but faltered in the final round, is determined to perform better this time around.

Foreign players such as Gwon Minwook, Collin Wheeler, and Toru Nakajima, among others, will add excitement to the tournament and provide tough competition to the local favorites. The event is organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. and supported by Kampfortis Golf.
