Langbayan to face Singaporean opponent in KSK MMA festival

MANILA – Despite facing a younger opponent, Filipino mixed martial artist Godwin Langbayan is fully prepared to go head-to-head with Singaporean fighter Sim Kai Xiong in the upcoming Kombat Sports Kalayaan (KSK) MMA festival on April 28th in Makati.

The two fighters will be competing for the KSK MMA championship title in what promises to be an intense battle. Langbayan, 34 years old, expressed his readiness to defend his undefeated record in MMA despite facing a 26-year-old opponent.

“I can’t say I’m 100% confident, but I can say I’m 100% ready. And even though he’s younger, I can say that all of my experiences in the past two years with the national sambo team [will be an advantage], especially that I fought last year in the world championship of Sambo,” Langbayan shared during a press conference on Thursday.

Having seen Xiong compete in local promotions in the Philippines in 2019, Langbayan believes that his opponent is not at a high level compared to him. Despite Xiong’s background in the Road to UFC Season 2 and the UFC performance institute, Langbayan remains confident in his own skills and abilities.

The Langbayan-Xiong fight is set to be the main event of the KSK MMA festival, with other exciting matchups on the fight card including Filipino MMA superstar Mark Striegl facing Paige Alitao, Elorde Sandigon taking on Andriawan Dharmita, and Joemar Gallaza going up against Robertson Abion.
