Duterte’s PDP formally removes ‘Laban’ from their name

Political party PDP-Laban has officially dropped the “Laban” from its name under the leadership of former president Rodrigo Duterte. The decision was made during a meeting in Cebu City, where members approved the motion to remove the second part of the party’s name. The party, founded by former Senate president Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr., originally merged with Lakas ng Bayan to form PDP-Laban. However, the party’s endorsement of President Bongbong Marcos has caused controversy, with some members objecting to the decision. Despite this, it remains unclear if PDP-Laban will field candidates in alliance with the current administration.
