The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced construction works on three (3) multi-purpose buildings that will complement the operation of Bacolod City General Hospital.
According to DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno, the city health complex will be built on a 1.7-hectare lot in Barangay Vista, Bacolod City and includes the construction of a 16-meter access road and four (4) buildings.
Director Bueno explained that the construction of the Bacolod City General Hospital being the main building will be implemented by the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6, while the three (3) support buildings will be constructed by DPWH Regional Office 6.
With an allocation of P200 million, the project consists of a two (2)-storey dietary building, laundry building, and morgue building with a total floor area of 1,558 square meters.
“When completed, the new buildings will serve as additional facilities that will meet the healthcare needs of local communities in the city and the province of Negros Occidental, increase employment opportunities for the health sector, and offer a more affordable and accessible healthcare system,” added Director Bueno.
The recent project groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, DOH Region 6 Director Adriano Suba-an, and local officials of Bacolod City.
