In a thrilling matchup between UAAP and NCAA champions, EcoOil-La Salle and Centro Escolar University secured the top two spots for outright semifinal tickets in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup held late Thursday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
EcoOil-La Salle dominated Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda with a final score of 82-71, maintaining a perfect 5-0 record. Meanwhile, Centro Escolar University defeated CCI-Yengskivel 96-78, finishing the single-round prelims with a 4-1 record.
Following their defeat, San Beda settled for third place with a 3-2 record, setting up a quarterfinal matchup against winless Keanzel Basketball. Go Torakku-St. Clare and CCI-Yengskivel will also face off in the quarterfinals. San Beda and St. Clare will have a win-once bonus in the quarterfinals set for Monday.
