Director Zenaida T. Tan of DPWH Region X deployed on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, relief operation teams from the Regional Office and the District Engineering Offices (DEOs) to distribute food and non-food relief assistance to the flood-affected families and evacuees at Misamis Occidental 1st DEO—the office serving as one of the evacuation centers in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.
Aside from food packs, fuel support and deployment of heavy equipment such as dump truck and payloader were also provided by Regional Office X, Iligan City DEO, Lanao del Norte 1st DEO and Lanao del Norte 2nd DEO to aid in the road clearing operations. Helping its co-District Office, Misamis Occidental 2nd DEO of Tangub City also stationed its road grader. As of the said date, cash assistance were also extended by Camiguin DEO and Bukidnon 1st DEO.
These collaborative efforts from DPWH Region X were supplemented apart from its routine maintenance activities as part of the disaster response management of the Department during this state of calamity in Misamis Occidental due to heavy rains and severe flooding triggered by the shear line.
