SHABU worth P7.9 million seized in Iloilo City

On Wednesday night, authorities in Iloilo City apprehended two major drug pushers and confiscated 1.1 kilos of suspected shabu (methamphetamine) worth P7.95 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Malipayon-Delgado. The suspects, known as “Pirot” and “Erwin,” were taken into custody by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6, led by Police Capt. Glenn Soliman.

The Police Regional Office-6 commended the RPDEU-6 for its successful operation, with Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director, praising the efforts to stop the spread of illegal drugs in the region.

This seizure marks the largest haul of illegal drugs in Iloilo so far this year and is suspected to have been intended as a supply for the upcoming Dinagyang Festival in the area.

The operation was supported by various units of the Iloilo City Police Office, including the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and the Police Station Drug Enforcement Team.

The suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
