Quezon City Representative and internationally acclaimed actor Arjo Atayde is set to compete against fellow Asian actors in the thrilling series, Cattleya Killer. The six-part show, directed by Dan Villegas and written by Dodo Dayao, follows the investigation of a serial killer who leaves Cattleya flowers on his victims. Atayde portrays Anton dela Rosa, the son of the detective who initially solved the case. As the story unfolds, the past traumas and buried secrets surrounding Anton resurface, leading to suspicion.
Atayde’s outstanding performance in Cattleya Killer has not only earned him local praise but also garnered international recognition from prestigious award-giving bodies such as the Asia Content Awards & Global OTT Awards and the Asian Academy Creative Awards.
The Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards, scheduled for October 8 at the Busan Cinema Center in South Korea, signifies the transformation of traditional film festivals to include content exclusively made for streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video. The event is a celebration of achievements in TV, OTT, and online platforms. It is expected to be a grand live event that can also be streamed on YouTube.
The partnership between the Asia Contents Awards and the International OTT Festival has expanded the event’s scope, attracting over 50 percent more submissions from 18 diverse countries. The award categories have also expanded to 17, including competitive awards like Best Creative and Best Lead Actor/Actress, as well as non-competitive awards like Lifetime Achievement.
Atayde faces tough competition from heavyweight Asian actors, such as South Korea’s Ryu Seung-ryong, China’s Fan Wei, Thailand’s Nat Kitcharit, and Japan’s Satoh Takeru and Yūya Yagira. Despite the formidable competition, Atayde remains deeply honored by the nominations and sees them as a tribute to the Filipino spirit and dedication.
