Semerad capitalizes on Abueva’s absence to lead NLEX over Magnolia

In a recent PBA Philippine Cup game, NLEX forward Anthony Semerad stepped up in the absence of his rival Calvin Abueva, who was serving a suspension. Semerad delivered a strong performance, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, both season-highs for him. This impressive effort helped NLEX secure their fourth consecutive victory as they defeated the Magnolia Hotshots with a final score of 87-74.

After the game, Semerad shared that he took advantage of Abueva’s suspension, acknowledging the impact the talented player usually has on the court. Abueva’s suspension was a result of an incident where he made an inappropriate gesture towards a fan and was also fined P20,000 for his actions.

The absence of Abueva, along with injuries to Rome dela Rosa and Aris Dionisio, had a significant impact on the Hotshots’ performance. Despite missing the opportunity to face his rival, Semerad expressed that he was always ready for the challenge.

Looking ahead, NLEX will aim to continue their winning streak as they prepare to face the TNT Tropang Giga in Candon, Ilocos Sur next Saturday.
