Blackwater pulls off an upset against TNT to maintain perfect record



In a thrilling match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the Blackwater Bossing secured a major victory by defeating the TNT Tropang Giga with a final score of 87-76 in the PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday.

The game started off close, with the Tropang Giga holding a four-point lead of 39-35 in the first half. However, the Bossing dominated the third quarter, establishing a 10-point lead of 69-59 going into the final frame.

In a remarkable display of skill, Blackwater extended their lead to 20 points at 85-65 during the fourth quarter, fueled by a 16-6 run that concluded with a clutch 3-pointer by RK Ilagan.

Although the Tropang Giga attempted to mount a comeback and reduce the deficit to 14 points at 85-71, Blackwater swiftly responded with key plays to maintain their lead. Troy Rosario led the charge for the Bossing with 20 points and six rebounds, while Ilagan contributed 15 points to the team’s victory.

On the opposing side, Calvin Oftana led TNT with 21 points, followed by Jayson Castro with 12 points. Despite their efforts, TNT fell short as Blackwater emerged victorious.

With this win, Blackwater remains undefeated in the PBA Philippine Cup with a 2-0 record, having secured impressive victories against two MVP teams. Meanwhile, TNT now holds a 1-1 record in the season.
