The Philippines to Host FIVB Men’s World Championship

The Philippines has been selected to host the FIVB Men’s World Championship, making it the second Asian country after Japan to host the prestigious event. The championship will take place from September 12 to 28 next year, with 32 of the best teams in the world competing for the volley crown.

Senator Pia Cayetano, who led the winning Philippine bid team in Switzerland, expressed confidence in the country’s ability to deliver a great experience for all the teams and global fans. The Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City and the MOA Arena in Pasay are being considered as playing venues for the tournament.

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation, with support from the government and private sector, secured the winning bid to host the event. Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco highlighted the hosting of the championship as a boost to the country’s sports tourism portfolio, driving economic growth and showcasing the Philippines’ diverse tourism offerings.

PNVF president Ramon Suzara underscored the federation’s readiness and willingness to take on the responsibility. He acknowledged the support from the FIVB, Volleyball World, government officials, and private sector partners, including business mogul Manny V. Pangilinan.

The Philippines’ successful bid to host the FIVB Men’s World Championship reflects the country’s track record in staging world-class events and promises to be a memorable experience for all participants and spectators.
