Phivolcs reports 5 volcanic earthquakes detected at Taal Volcano

The Taal Volcano in the Philippines showed signs of activity with five volcanic earthquakes reported on Thursday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

During the latest 24-hour observation period, Phivolcs recorded three volcanic tremors lasting two minutes each. Despite the increased seismic activity, Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 1, indicating a low level of unrest.

Under Alert Level 1, access to the volcano’s permanent danger zones is restricted, and flying near the volcano is not allowed. Phivolcs also warned of possible hazards such as phreatic explosions, volcanic earthquakes, minor ashfall, and emissions of volcanic gas.
