Cebu Pacific Airlines will begin operating flights from Clark International Airport to Laguindingan Airport in May 2023. To celebrate the launch of this new route, the Department of Tourism Regional Office 10 welcomed the passengers of Cebu Pacific’s 5J1041 Maiden Flight Clark – Cagayan de Oro at Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental on May 6 (Saturday).
Tourism Undersecretary Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar was an honored guest on the inaugural flight, along with tour operators from Region III-Central Luzon who joined the travel exchange until Sunday, May 7. They were welcomed with a water salute and a cultural dance, giving them a glimpse of the rich culture, heritage, and limitless adventures in Northern Mindanao.
Regional Director Unchuan expressed her gratitude to Cebu Pacific and highlighted that the operation will allow for direct access to regional destinations, making it easier for tourists to visit and facilitate travel exchanges.
“We are very thankful to Cebu Pacific for opening the Clark-Cagayan de Oro route. We have been prepared to welcome visitors because we have so much to offer. In fact, we are planning to organize a travel exchange between the regions, both incoming to Region 10 and outgoing. We will be bringing our tour operators and stakeholders to Clark,” said RD Unchuan.
This operation is projected to result in regular visits to the region and provide an excellent opportunity to revitalize Northern Mindanao’s tourism industry and promote local destinations.
