PAGASA: 33 locations classified under ‘dangerous’ heat index on April 26



Thirty-three areas in the Philippines are bracing for scorching temperatures reaching up to 47 degrees Celsius on Friday, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA.

PAGASA’s latest heat index bulletin classified 33 areas in the country under the “danger” heat index category, with temperatures ranging from 42°C to 47°C. Dagupan City in Pangasinan is expected to experience a high heat index of 47°C.

Metro Manila, as measured through the Science Garden in Quezon City and NAIA in Pasay City, may also experience intense heat with temperatures projected to reach 42°C and 43°C, respectively.

Several areas, including Butuan in Agusan del Norte, General Santos City in South Cotabato, and Cotabato City in Maguindanao, are among those expected to face dangerous heat index levels on Friday.

PAGASA issued a warning for individuals to be cautious as temperatures soar, advising people to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and schedule tasks during cooler times of the day to avoid heat-related illnesses.
