Filipino Olympic pole vaulter EJ Obiena secured his first gold medal of the year by emerging victorious in the Memorial Josip Gasparac indoor event in Croatia. Obiena triumphed after clearing the 5.83-meter mark, besting Portugal’s Pedro Buaro and Olen Tray Oates of the United States. This victory marks Obiena’s return to competition since the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, and he is set to compete in the ISTAF Indoor in Berlin, Germany and the World Indoor Championship in Glasgow, Scotland.
