The accident occurred around 11:50 a.m. on Finance Road, corner of Taft Avenue in Ermita, causing heavy traffic in the area.

According to initial police investigation, the truck driver claimed that his vehicle lost its brakes, prompting him to ram it into the center island to avoid hitting another motorist.
