Creamline defeats Choco Mucho in debut match without Jia De Guzman

Creamline Triumphs over Choco Mucho in Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference

Creamline displayed their championship form as they defeated sister team Choco Mucho in a thrilling match at the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Sunday night, October 15, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Cool Smashers dominated the game, winning the first two sets with scores of 25-18 and 25-15. Choco Mucho fought back in the third set, winning 26-24, but Creamline regained their momentum in the fourth set and secured the victory with a 25-21 score.

Bernadeth Pons led the charge for Creamline, earning 21 points in the match, including 20 kills. Michele Gumabao also contributed significantly with 20 points, made up of 18 attacks and two aces.

Creamline had the opportunity to close the match in the third set when they reached match points at 24-23. However, Choco Mucho’s Des Cheng and Sisi Rondina, along with a solid block from Cherry Nunag, kept the Flying Titans alive.

Despite the setback, Creamline remained composed in the fourth set, thanks to the excellent ball distribution from setter Kyle Negrito. Negrito filled the shoes of Jia De Guzman, who recently signed with the Denso Airybees in the Japan V.League. Negrito contributed 23 of the team’s total of 24 excellent sets and scored three points.

Captain Alyssa Valdez had limited playing time, only coming off the bench in the last two sets and finishing with four points.

Sisi Rondina showcased her skills for Choco Mucho, scoring 21 points, but her efforts were not enough to secure a victory for the Flying Titans.

Creamline’s win marks a successful start to their title-retention campaign in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference. They will look to carry this momentum into future matches against newcomer Nxled Chameleons and Cignal HD Spikers.
