Heat index of the “danger category” is predicted to be experienced in 13 areas of the country on Monday, April 15, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Dagupan City in Pangasinan province is expected to face hot weather at 45 degrees Celsius, while Puerto Princesa City in Palawan province and Aparri in Cagayan may reach 44 and 43 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Additionally, very warm conditions of 42 degrees Celsius may be felt in several other areas, including NAIA in Pasay City, Laoag City in Ilocos Norte, and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan.

Pagasa warns that a heat index of 42 to 51 degrees Celsius falls under the “danger” level and could lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. The onset of the dry season on March 23 has brought warmer weather, exacerbated by a strong El Niño causing droughts in various provinces nationwide.
