Romualdez emphasizes the need to balance the interests of sellers and consumers with regards to eggs sold by the kilo

House Speaker Martin Romualdez, together with ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo, recently made comments regarding a proposal to sell eggs by the kilo. Romualdez emphasized the need to balance the interests of sellers and consumers in light of this suggestion. He expressed that it depends on who is being spoken to, and while it may be advantageous for sellers to sell eggs by the kilo, consumers may prefer to purchase by the piece. Romualdez also acknowledged the right of the seller to make this decision. The comments were made following a market inspection conducted by Romualdez at Farmers Plaza in Quezon City, with the holiday season approaching. This discussion was in response to a recent suggestion by AGAP Party-list Rep. Nicanor Briones to sell eggs by the kilo, similar to how meat is sold. Currently, eggs are typically sold by the dozen in local supermarkets, with the price varying based on size.
