GMA-7 Celebrates Bong Revilla’s 50th Showbiz Anniversary with TV Special on Oct. 7



GMA Network, Inc. Pays Tribute to Sen. Bong Revilla’s 50-Year Showbiz Career

In a momentous celebration of Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.’s golden milestone, GMA Network, Inc. is set to broadcast a special TV program commemorating his 50th showbiz anniversary. The GMA TV Special, entitled “Idol ko si Bong,” will be aired on Saturday, October 7, at 8 p.m. and will be available for free viewing.

The event was attended by more than a thousand guests from the realms of politics, entertainment, and family and friends. A highlight of the celebration was the display of Revilla’s showbiz memorabilia, showcasing his illustrious five-decade career.

Numerous former leading ladies, co-actors, and friends from the entertainment industry took the stage to dedicate performances to the jubilarian, making the night even more special. However, the most heartfelt performances came from Revilla’s own family.

Expressing gratitude, Revilla stated, “I thank Boss Vic Del Rosario and Direk Carlo J. Caparas for my first starring role; Mother Lily Monteverde, and all producers who believed and bet on me; my directors in the over 100 films I did; GMA 7 especially Sir Felipe Gozon, Sir Jimmy Duavit, Annette Gozon and Joey Abacan, who all gambled on me when I tried television; all the actors who joined me in bringing joy to TV viewers.”

Revilla further expressed his appreciation for everyone who supported him throughout his remarkable 50-year journey, including his previous leading ladies, production staff, stuntmen, PR handlers, and entertainment writers.

The star-studded event saw the presence of notable personalities such as Maricel Soriano, Erik Matti, Vic Del Rosario, Marlon Bautista, Roselle Monteverde, William Lao, Mac Alejandre, Annette Gozon-Valdez, Lolit Solis, Jay Santiago, Felipe Gozon, Ronald Asinas, Beauty Gonzales, Sunshine Cruz, Jean Garcia, Ara Mina, Sanya Lopez, Rochelle Pangilinan, Rabiya Mateo, Tirso Cruz III, Christopher de Leon, Gardo Versoza, Roi Vinzon, Niño Muhlach, Betong Sumaya, Long Mejia, Ogie Diaz, Jillian Ward, Robin Padilla, Phillip Salvador, Jinggoy Estrada, Lorna Tolentino, Amy Austria, Isabel Rivas, and Iza Calzado, among others.

Although unable to attend physically, celebrity friends of Revilla, including Sharon Cuneta, Dingdong Dantes, Judy Ann Santos, Aiko Melendez, Regine Velasquez, and Vilma Santos, sent their virtual well-wishes to the celebrator.

The event also welcomed esteemed political figures such as Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, as well as various senators, congressmen, governors, mayors, and other public officials.
