Legendary Entertainment Columnist and Talent Manager Ethel Ramos Passes Away, Celebrities Mourn

The local entertainment scene is currently in mourning following the unexpected passing of Ethel Ramos, a veteran entertainment columnist and talent manager. Ramos, who was considered a stalwart in the industry, leaves behind a long-lasting legacy that will be remembered by all.

Notable celebrity couple Bong Revilla, Jr. and Lani Mercado expressed their sorrow over Ramos’ passing on their respective social media accounts. Revilla, known for his action star roles, wrote, “We are grieving over the loss of one of our most beloved and indebted individuals – Manay Ethel Ramos.” He continued, “It is extremely painful, Manay. I feel like I have lost a mother once again, as you served as a mother figure to me throughout my career. Thank you for your love and guidance from my childhood until now. We love you, Manay Ethel. Rest in peace. Say hi to Mommy and Daddy for me.”

Mercado, in a heartfelt post, conveyed her condolences to the grieving family. She said, “It is with sadness that I send my condolences to the family of Ethel Ramos.” Mercado went on to mention that Ramos, along with the late Ricky Lo, was the one who gave her the screen name she is known by today. “She held press conferences for Regal Films during the ’80s when I started, alongside the El Oro group of writers. Loved by producers and respected in the industry, she also acted as the manager of Aga Muhlach,” Mercado recalled.

Mercado also revealed that Ramos served as a godmother to her son Jolo Revilla and had been a valuable collaborator to her husband, Bong Revilla, in several of his movies and Imus Productions. “She is one of the few people who has been with our family through our ups and downs. We will miss you, Manay Ethel,” Mercado declared.

Ramos’ passing was announced by her niece, Farah. She was 87 years old. Known as the “Dean of Entertainment Writers,” Ramos managed several notable talents, including Aga Muhlach and Angel Locsin.

The entertainment industry has lost a true icon with the demise of Ethel Ramos. Her contributions will forever be cherished, and her absence will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved her.
