DOH, PSAC Discuss Collaboration Areas to Fasttrack UHC Reforms

Department of Health Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire, together with PHST OIC Undersecretary Beverly Ho and other DOH officials, today met with members of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) and discussed ways to collaborate and materialize the goals of Universal Health Care.

During the meeting, the DOH and PSAC shared progress reports from ongoing work on the DOH’s strategic interventions for UHC, and on the PSAC’s action items pertaining to the strategic pillars of its healthcare sector recommendations which they developed and presented to PBBM, respectively.

“As we continue to push forward to attain our health agenda, we recognize that the DOH cannot–and more importantly should not–work alone. In realizing UHC and addressing long-standing gaps in the health sector, we need all hands on deck. As such, we acknowledge the expertise of the private sector and aim maximize their support by proactively engaging them through the PSAC, and identifying specific areas of collaboration to advance key healthcare system reforms.

Through the continued partnership of the public and private sectors in health, we will no doubt be able to strengthen our healthcare delivery system and ensure that all Filipinos have access to quality health services, all toward our vision of a healthy Pilipinas,” the DOH OIC said.
