AIRPORT SECURITY PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

OTS Participates in Model Airport Security Program Development Workshop

Senior and middle management members of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) as well as other airport authorities participated in the recently held Model Airport Security Programme (ASP) Development Workshop, last 21- 24 November 2022, conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization Cooperative Aviation Security Programme – Asia Pacific (CASP -AP).

The workshop was facilitated by CASP-AP Programme Coordinator and Senior Aviation Security Advisor Tony Blackiston and Shannon Wandmaker.

OTS Undersecretary Ma.O Aplasca said that airport operators have to address security deficiencies by developing an Airport Security Program, and that the conduct of workshop by the CASP-AP is timely and useful in helping operators comply with both international and national requirements.

“The delivery of the workshop is timely considering that there is a need to have the Airport Security Program updated and for other airports, who have not yet complied, to submit their updated Airport Security Program. The knowledge you have imparted to the participants will certainly go a long way and help them develop strategies necessary to address some concerns on the ASP.” Usec. Aplasca said.

Participating the workshop were OTS Transport Security Policy and Program officers and staff.

Also in attendance were officers from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
