DFA Repatriates More Filipinos From Overseas During Holy Week Break

Pasay City – As the nation pauses to commemorate the Holy week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) continues to fulfill its mission to serve migrant Filipinos from all over the globe by successfully repatriating a total of 116 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kuwait.

A group of 41 Overseas Filipinos were repatriated via Kuwait Airways KU 417 which arrived in Manila at 6:10 pm. This includes three (3) OFWs who were suffering from medical cases, one of whom was paralyzed from the waist down after suffering a fall from a window in her employer’s apartment.

Meanwhile, another group of 69 distressed OFWs from Kuwait were also successfully repatriated through Etihad EY 428 which arrived in the Philippines at 9:06 pm.

In the early morning, six Filipinos who were victims of human traffickers also arrived in Manila after they were repatriated from Laos through the work of the Philippine Embassy in Vientane. They arrived at 5:50 AM via Philippine Airlines Flight PR 741. A DFA team headed by Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega met them at the airport, where they were also provided assistance by the DSWD, OWWA and the NAIA Task Force Against Trafficking (NAIATFAT).
