Animam Joins Ringwood Hawks of Australia



A Filipina basketball player, Jack Animam, who has won five UAAP championships, is taking her talents to Australia to play for the Ringwood Hawks in the NBL1 semi-professional league. The Hawks, who made the playoffs last season, compete in the South Conference of the NBL1.

Animam, a longtime national team player, has previously played in Serbia, France, and most recently in China for Wuhan in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association. In her time with Wuhan, she averaged 11.4 points, 12 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 2.1 steals in 35 games.

The Ringwood Hawks’ coach, Jeremy O’Toole, expressed his excitement about having Animam join the team, stating that they have been following her journey and are thrilled to have her on board. He also mentioned the team’s hopes for local support for Animam as she represents the Hawks.

O’Toole also highlighted Animam’s potential to be a role model for young girls playing basketball and expressed the team’s commitment to supporting her in giving back to the next generation.

The NBL1 season for the Hawks and Animam will kick off on April 3, with a game against the Kilsyth Cobras. Fans are eagerly anticipating seeing Animam on the court for her new team.
