500 students from MSU-Gensan receive benefits from cash-for-work program

532 Mindanao State University-General Santos City campus students received their benefits under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) cash-for-work program on Friday, December 15. Regional Director Loreto Cabaya Jr. of DSWD-12 stated that 476 of the beneficiaries were from MSU-General Santos City Campus, with the rest coming from South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat.

Each beneficiary received P5,000 during the payout at the university campus. The cash-for-work program is an initiative of Sen. Imee Marcos and implemented by the KALAHI-CIDSS. This fund assistance is a temporary intervention to help alleviate the needs of fresh graduates who are still looking for jobs. The program aims to provide work experience for the students while aiding them financially.

Alliah Jean Abordo, a 23-year-old Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering graduate, shared how the program helped her gain experience while assigned at the Polomolok Municipal Nursery in South Cotabato.

The beneficiaries are scheduled to work in their communities for 90 days and will be paid P390 per day for their work. Daimg.PNG
