Police officer dies in drowning incident at Sorsogon surfing resort



A tragic incident occurred in Sorsogon on Easter Sunday, March 31, when a 26-year-old police officer drowned at a surfing camp in Gubat town. The victim, identified as Patrolman Joseph Agnote, was swept away by big waves while swimming at the Buenavista Surf Camp. Despite efforts to rescue him, Agnote did not resurface after diving several times. His friend, Ladin Lobosura, also faced difficulties due to the waves but was rescued by nearby surfers. The Philippine Coast Guard responded promptly and attempted to revive Agnote on the way to the hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive. Agnote was a member of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion based in Legazpi City, Albay province. Authorities have warned the public about the dangers of swimming in the area where the incident occurred.
