Philippines leads in remote work hubs, urges stronger support for freelance workers

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go advocates for more support for freelance workers as the Philippines becomes one of the top remote work hubs in the world based on a recent independent international economic organization study. Go emphasized the importance of remote work and freelancing in providing economic opportunities for Filipinos. He is pushing for the passage of Senate Bill No. 2107 or the proposed “Freelance Workers Protection Act” to safeguard and provide incentives for freelance workers. The bill aims to outlaw illicit practices in freelancing and mandates fair compensation and protection for workers. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be responsible for investigating potential violations of the proposed law.
