Indonesia Dominates Philippines in Southeast Asia V-League

First leg winner Indonesia emerged victorious once again as they swept the Philippines, 25-20, 25-22, 25-20, in the Southeast Asia (SEA) V-League. The match took place at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna on Saturday night.

With this loss, the Philippine team has now suffered two straight defeats in the second leg of the regional meet, resulting in an overall record of 0-5. They had a winless campaign in the first leg in Jakarta.

Indonesia, on the other hand, remains undefeated with a 2-0 record and only needs one more win to secure their second consecutive championship.

Marck Espejo, who had a stellar performance with 24 points in the Philippines’ loss to Thailand the previous day, scored only 10 points in this match. Steven Rotter was the top scorer for the Nationals with 13 points.

Indonesia’s Farhan Halim led the scoring department with 19 points, while Doni Haryono and Dimas Saputra contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the team’s victory.

In another match, Vietnam narrowly defeated Thailand, 25-20, 25-19, 28-30, 21-25, 15-9. Thuan Nguyen Ngoc and Tien Duong Van combined for 34 points, with each player scoring 17 points for the Vietnamese team.

The Philippine team will conclude their SEA V-League campaign on Sunday with a match against Vietnam at 6 pm. A dominant victory in this game could boost their chances of finishing on the podium. Meanwhile, Indonesia aims to sweep the competition when they face off against Thailand in their next game.
