Janry Ubas Sets Sights on European Tour in Pursuit of World Athletics Championships Qualification

Bangkok, Thailand – After an impressive performance at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships, Janry Ubas, accompanied by coach Dario de Rosas, is ready to embark on a journey to Europe in his relentless pursuit to qualify for the prestigious 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships, scheduled from August 19 to 27.

Recognizing his potential, Ubas has secured invitations to participate in three highly regarded athletics meets across Europe. The Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) has orchestrated this opportunity for the country’s top long jumper. Departing tomorrow, Ubas will make his way directly from Bangkok to Europe, where he will showcase his skills and aim for qualification.

The first destination on his itinerary is Lappeenrant, Finland, where Ubas is set to compete on July 19. This will be followed by a visit to Trieste, Italy, on July 22. The series will culminate in Stuttgart, Germany, on July 29, just one day before the World Athletics Championships’ qualification window closes on July 30.

As the excitement builds, Team Philippines already boasts two entries for the upcoming Athletics World tilt, namely EJ Obiena and Robyn Brown. Ubas now seeks to join their ranks and represent his country at the global stage of athletics.

The PATAFA, the governing body for athletics in the Philippines, extends its well wishes and support to Janry Ubas as he embarks on this crucial journey.
