PCG Successfully Rescues 3 Individuals from a Blazing Speed Boat in Zamboanga City



Three individuals were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after their speed boat caught fire in the waters off Zamboanga City. According to the PCG, the speed boat named ‘Fadi Laminusa Express’ departed from Marias, Baliwasan Seaside, Zamboanga City for a sea trial.

However, a fire broke out in the fuel tank and battery of the boat at around 2 p.m. on Thursday. PCG immediately dispatched a team to rescue the crew and extinguish the fire, which was successfully put out at around 3:30 p.m.

The speed boat ultimately sank 300 meters south of Barangay Mariki, Zamboanga City. The rescued individuals were provided with immediate medical care by PCG’s Coast Guard Medical Clinic-Southwestern Mindanao as they sustained first-degree burns.
