OSSA set to arrive in Davao for arrest order against Quiboloy

Senate orders arrest of religious leader Apollo Quiboloy over alleged crimes

The Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms (OSSA) is gearing up to execute the upper chamber’s arrest order against religious leader Apollo Quiboloy in Davao City in the coming days, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11.

Major Catherine Dela Rey, the chief of PRO 11’s Public Information Office, revealed that OSSA informed their regional director of the impending visit.

Last April 2, PRO 11 confirmed that OSSA had requested the assistance of the Philippine National Police to implement the arrest order against Quiboloy. However, they have not yet received a copy of the document.

Quiboloy was ordered to be arrested and detained by the Senate for his continued refusal to participate in the upper chamber’s investigation into alleged crimes on March 19. The Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality, chaired by Senator Risa Hontiveros, issued the order signed by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri on March 19.

The Senate inquiry, which began on January 23, was prompted by former members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ who claimed to have witnessed instances of sexual abuse within the organization. Additional witnesses alleged that some church members were subjected to exploitative activities like begging and soliciting money.

The OSSA’s imminent arrival in Davao City to serve the arrest order signifies a significant development in Quiboloy’s legal battle.
