Magnolia angrily vents frustration on hapless Terrafirma, edges closer to quarterfinal bonus



Magnolia Hotshots Defeat Terrafirma Dyip in 2023 PBA Commissioner’s Cup

On Wednesday, December 20th, Magnolia vented their ire on Terrafirma with a 104-91 victory in the 2023 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The win helped Magnolia get back on the winning track and close in on the coveted quarterfinals bonus.

The Hotshots regained the solo lead and improved to an 8-1 record, positioning them historically enough to secure a place in the Top 4 spots. Import Tyler Bey led the attack with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, while Paul Lee fired 16 on five triples to contribute to Magnolia’s victory.

Ian Sangalang also had 18 points and nine rebounds while Jio Jalalon chipped in 13 for the Hotshots. Magnolia built a double-digit lead right from the opening frame and continued to dominate throughout the game, even stretching the lead to as high as 31 points.

On the other hand, the Dyip’s Juami Tiongson led with 17 points in another losing effort, while Gelo Alolino and Stephen Holt had 13 and 12, respectively. Import Thomas de Thaey only managed to score 11 points, despite recording 15 rebounds for the Dyip, who continued to struggle with their fifth straight loss for a 2-6 slate.
