Justin Brownlee Excited to Wear Gilas Pilipinas and Barangay Ginebra Jerseys

For Justin Brownlee, it’s a dream come true to wear the Gilas Pilipinas and Barangay Ginebra jerseys once again.

Having led Gilas to a gold medal in the Asian Games last year, Brownlee is one of the most beloved players in Philippine basketball history. He expressed his eagerness to hit the court with his teammates once more after being recognized during the halftime of Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals between the San Miguel Beermen and the Magnolia Hotshots.

Brownlee, who is part of the 12-man pool assembled by Gilas head coach Tim Cone for the first window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers, had to go through a challenging three months. After his urine sample tested positive for carboxy-THC, the International Testing Agency (ITA) suspended him for three months. His suspension was lifted on Friday, making him eligible to play for Gilas Pilipinas once again.

In addition to the suspension, Brownlee had to recover from an injury, making the past three months very difficult for him. But now, he feels good and healthy, ready to give his all for both Gilas Pilipinas and Barangay Ginebra.

The import player is also looking forward to playing for Ginebra in the next import-laden conference, emphasizing the significance of cherishing every opportunity to play, especially for someone who is not getting any younger.
