Madrigal Singers Celebrate 60th Anniversary with Unforgettable Performance

The Philippine Madrigal Singers, also known as Madz, recently held a concert at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater to celebrate their 60th anniversary. The concert, titled “Sisenti—Sumesenting Funny sa Aming Sixty,” showcased a lighter side of the highly acclaimed choral group.

Breaking away from their signature seated semicircle performance style, the Madz let their hair down and entertained the audience with a variety of songs centered around the theme of love and relationships. From Depeche Mode’s “Somebody” to OPM hits like “Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin” and “Dadalhin,” the group delivered captivating performances that resonated with the crowd.

One highlight of the concert was the humorous rendition of “Marry a Woman Uglier than You,” which drew laughter from the audience. The male and female members of the ensemble showcased their comedic talents with songs like DJ Alvaro’s “Papa Ka Ba?” and Vincent de Jesus’ “Ako Lang ang Nagmahal.”

As the concert progressed, the Madz transitioned to emotionally charged songs about unrequited love and letting go, including Moira dela Torre’s “Paubaya” and Saunder Choi’s “There’ll Always be That Someone Else.” The audience was also treated to a medley of TikTok hits performed with a playful and entertaining twist.

The concert concluded with a heartfelt performance of “Come What May,” leaving the audience with a sense of love, laughter, and perhaps even tears. Overall, the Madz delivered a memorable evening filled with music and emotion that will linger in the hearts of their audience for years to come.
