NU coach aims to maintain impressive start in V-League



National University (NU) coach Dante Alinsunurin praised his team’s performance in their first match of the V-League Collegiate Challenge. The Bulldogs secured a straight-sets victory over Far Eastern University, winning 25-22, 25-22, 25-19.

In preparation for the upcoming UAAP season, Alinsunurin emphasized the importance of staying within their system and making necessary adjustments. He expressed his desire for the team’s game to align with international play.

During the match, Alinsunurin gave playing time to new standouts in the Bulldogs’ roster, aiming to test their potential and provide exposure to incoming players. He also identified areas for improvement, particularly in defending against combination plays.

Player of the Game Michaelo Buddin stepped up in the absence of former skipper Joshua Retamar and Nico Almendras. Alinsunurin also commended the leadership of Leo Aringo, the team’s new captain, who contributed both in terms of attacking and leading the team.

In another game, reigning NCAA champions University of Perpetual Help System Altas emerged victorious over Emilio Aguinaldo College in extended sets, with a final score of 29-27, 26-24, 25-19. Star spiker and league Most Valuable Player Louie Ramirez was not present as he joined a three-week training camp in Japan.

The V-League Collegiate Challenge continues to showcase the skills and talent of collegiate volleyball teams as they prepare for their respective leagues.
