Driver arrested after Jeep fatally strikes 11-year-old boy in Manila



A tragic incident in Sta. Cruz, Manila resulted in the arrest of a jeepney driver after his vehicle struck and killed an 11-year-old boy on Saturday, Nov. 4th. The Manila Police District (MPD) reported the news on Tuesday, Nov. 7th, identifying the suspect as Cajes Domi de Vera. The MPD-Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) has detained de Vera for a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

The accident occurred on the eastbound lane of Blumentritt Road corner Felix Huertas Street in Sta. Cruz around 3 p.m. on Saturday, according to police reports. Initial investigations revealed that the jeepney hit and ran over the victim as he was crossing the road. Despite the driver rushing the victim to Chinese General Hospital, the boy was pronounced dead around 3:50 p.m.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of the young boy. The police are conducting further investigations into the matter, while the driver remains in custody as the legal process unfolds.
