DPWH Quick Response Teams Put on Alert Status for Tropical Storm Karding

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Teams of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have been deployed to strategic road sections for Severe Tropical Storm “Karding”.

DPWH quick response assets have been prepositioned and put on alert status with the passage in Luzon of Severe Tropical Storm “Karding” expected to bring heavy rains and induced possible flashflooding and landslide on highly susceptible places.

According to a report from the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance, quick response teams consisting of 8,963 personnel and 1,590 pieces of equipment have been told to monitor the state of the roads in entire Luzon and Western Visayas as early as Saturday, September 24, 2022.

The DPWH teams are prepositioned in all eight (😎 regions of Luzon which based on forecast track will likely be affected by the typhoon in order to quickly respond and ensure access along vital national road sections.

The DRRM Teams have also conducted other standard protocols in preparation for typhoon ‘Karding’ which include pruning of trees, declogging of drainage, and clearing of waterways along national roads.
