DPWH Improves Road, Bridge Network in Ilocos Sur

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of two (2) road projects in Ilocos Sur in support of its program to improve connectivity across the country.

DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan reported to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan the successful construction of the two (2) lane Burgos-Lidlidda Road which links the interior towns of Burgos and Lidlidda.

The project involved the concrete paving of a 388-meter road that improves Ilocos Sur’s road network leading to emerging tourist destinations such as the Katayagan View Deck in Lilidda, Simminublan Natural Water Park in Burgos, and alternate road to Payegpeg Falls in San Emilio, Ilocos Sur.

Director Tan also reported the reconstruction of the new Palali Norte Bridge in the Municipality of Sta. Lucia which now provided wider and safer access to motorists in Barangay Palali Norte.

It involves the construction of a higher flat-slab bridge with a width of 8.22-meters and 20-meter approach on both sides.

The Burgos-Lidlidda Road and the widened Palali Norte Bridge was constructed by DPWH Ilocos Sur Second District Engineering Office (DEO) for a total of P12.28-million and P4.9-million funded under the 2021 and 2022 General Appropriations Act, respectively.

“DPWH is committed to build better projects nationwide to stimulate economic activities with the end in mind of improving the lives of our fellow Filipinos,” said Secretary Bonoan.
