CCP to screen local, international films for free in nationwide venues

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will be showcasing a variety of local and international films for free in the last quarter of 2023 in different venues across the country.

The lineup will include an exciting mix of films ranging from documentaries to narratives. Among the films to be shown is War Sailor, a Norwegian film about a sailor named Alfred in the midst of World War II. Also part of the lineup is Voyage of the Balangay, a documentary about Filipino adventurers retracing the migration of their ancestors using a traditional Balangay boat.

CCP will also be holding a special screening of Karnal as part of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women. The film addresses themes of filial loyalty and the subjugation of women.

Other films to be shown include PISAY, a film depicting the joys and pains of adolescence in the midst of the Marcos dictatorship, and Wat Floor Ma’am?, a story about two unexpected companions trapped in an elevator.

Additionally, CCP will highlight the fight for human rights with a special screening of Maria, a documentary that follows three women named Maria after the bloodbath of Duterte’s drug war.

The screenings are part of CCP’s efforts to promote film literacy and cultivate film enthusiasts. Stay tuned for updates on specific dates and locations.
