Cabinet secretaries highlight significant achievements and meaningful reforms in the first year of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration.

According to various statements on social media, Cabinet secretaries unanimously commend the government’s development programs and projects aimed at improving the quality of life for the Filipino people.

Secretary Susan Ople of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) emphasized the collaborative approach fostered by President Marcos Jr., which enabled the DMW to overcome obstacles and establish essential programs and services for migrant workers ahead of schedule. Ople acknowledged the support of the legislative branch and expressed optimism about the future of overseas employment due to the administration’s teamwork and shared initiatives.

Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual praised the President’s visionary leadership style, which has led to remarkable achievements in advancing the Philippine economy and fostering partnerships with local and foreign markets. Pascual highlighted key policies implemented by the President, such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the Green Lane for Strategic Initiatives, and the Philippine Export and Development Plan, which have facilitated business growth and attracted investment opportunities.

National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan noted that despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, President Marcos Jr.’s assumption of office has been instrumental in steering the country towards full recovery. Balisacan emphasized the President’s 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda, which addresses both immediate and medium-term issues to stimulate job creation, reduce poverty, and sustain economic growth. He highlighted the robust GDP growth and the positive indicators that signal a promising recovery for 2023.

Secretary Rex Gatchalian of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) acknowledged the President’s commitment to uplift marginalized and vulnerable sectors of society. Gatchalian mentioned the strategic placement of DSWD satellite offices and the expansion of programs such as the supplemental feeding program and the Food STAMP Program, aimed at reducing hunger and improving the well-being of low-income households.

Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. highlighted the significant reforms in local governance and peace and order. He mentioned the BIDA program, an anti-illegal drugs campaign involving all levels of the bureaucracy, as well as partnerships with private companies and international development entities for drug rehabilitation efforts. Abalos also emphasized the Department’s implementation of the Seal of Good Local Governance, which promotes excellence, transparency, and accountability among well-performing local government units.

Overall, the Cabinet secretaries expressed their support for President Marcos Jr.’s leadership and acknowledged the positive impact of the administration’s policies and programs in various sectors of the country.
